What Is Contentious Probate?

You might have heard the term
contentious probate but don’t know what it means or even what it is. I’d like to take a minute to explain what it is and how we can guide you through the process. Probably the most well-known type of
contentious probate dispute is when someone challenges the validity of a will. But another area of contentious probate which has had a lot of recent media attention is inheritance Act claims. This is where someone who was
financially dependent on the deceased can make a claim even if they were left
out of the will. We also find ourselves involved in more general probate disputes such as arguments between beneficiaries and executors and similarly we also advise on trust disputes which are arguments between
beneficiaries and trustees. Quite often we also get involved in reviewing the actions of solicitors who have been previously instructed in contentious probate disputes where things have gone wrong. Being involved in contentious
probate disputes can be really difficult and our aim is always to guide you
through it as quickly as we possibly can. So please do give us a call as we’re
always happy to have a chat to see how we can help you.
